Leo had come into our care with his mum Pumpkin. Pumpkin has now been adopted. He’s a small cross breed.
Leo has been in foster for couple months now with Adam from K999 Behaviourist. And learnt a lot about being in a stable home. Here is what Adam has said about Leo so far.
Foster home notes;
Leo has been with me for a few months now and has shown very good progression from the terrified dog he initially was to a more socially confident little guy.
Clearly the trauma he suffered during his upbringing on a Chinese dog meat farm has had a huge impact on his outlook and behaviour. He was clearly handled in a very rough way as he is still very unsure about being touched in any way by people. There is deep seated trauma there.
In every other aspect he has made very impressive improvements in his general behaviour and social confidence.
He now loves to go on lead walks, especially with my other dogs. He loves to play in the garden either by himself or with the other dogs. Leo is also very happy to just be around the house either relaxing in a bed, a couch or wherever the sunlight is streaming in.
One important factor which must be considered by anybody considering taking Leo in is the fact he does not want to be touched. Due to the trauma he’s received being treated dreadfully in a Chinese dog meat farm he assumes any human contact will result in pain. So although he is happy enough to sit right next to people, he doesn’t want to be touched or stroked. Although he may in the future learn that contact is ok, please don’t apply unless you are happy knowing he just might never develop enough confidence to be happy being stroked.
Despite his amazing progress he still has a journey ahead of him and certain conditions to ensure that journey continues to be successful. We need his ongoing rehabilitation to be strong and sustained.
Leo is looking for a relatively quiet home, or at least a home with a steady predictable routine he can learn and relax into. I think it’s fairly important Leo goes to live with other dogs, he is still very unsure being close to people but is much more confident if he has dogs with him. He’s learned so much from my dogs and continues to love spending time with them. The benefit he’s had from being with dogs all day is immeasurable.
So his ideal home would be
1. A calm consistent household with a regular routine
2. Some well rounded dogs he can bond
3. Owners who are happy to just allow him the hands off relationship he needs to just be happy.

Marley has just come into our care from the pound after serving his 7 days stray hold. Marley is around 6/7 years old and a very healthy looking French Bulldog.
He’s a very loving boy and loves a good fuss and attention. He loves food and he’s your best mate if you have treats.
He seems non reactive with other dogs so maybe able to live with a female of similar size.
We would suggest no cats or small furries.
Marley doesn’t seem to have any breathing problems and his nose is good. Nor does he have any skin issues which is great for a frenchie.

Meet Bart.
A gentle soul who was rescued from a life of misery, only to spend more than a year waiting for someone to choose him. Not all of that time has been with us, but every extra day in kennels is another day without a family to call his own.
It's heartbreaking because there is nothing wrong with Bart. He simply needs someone who understands that trust takes time.
Bart came into our care with his brother, Biff, who has recently been adopted and now it is Bart's turn. After being transferred from another rescue where they struggled to get noticed. The lack of interest knocked their confidence, but despite everything, Bart is trying so hard.
Every day he gets a little braver. He's been enjoying solo walks with our team to help build his confidence, and we're so proud of how far he's come. Beneath the worried exterior is a truly lovely boy who just wants to feel safe and loved.

Poor Layla was taken by her owners to be PTS. We saw a FB post by the vets who she had been taken to asking if any rescue could take her. She had allegedly had a fight with her sister whom she had lived with all her life without issue, but when they were put into a kennel together and they fought. She has no marks on her and we do not know the truth however we are in desperate need of a foster or forever home for her.
She has been selective with dogs she has met and to be on the safe side we are looking for her to be the only dog in the home or maybe slow introduction to a similar size Lurcher or greyhound boy.
She is in foster with 8 other dogs which she’s become comfortable with. She loves the male greyhound she lives with and loves to play with him. She ignores all the smaller dogs but on the safe side when it’s an excitable time she does wear a muzzle but that’s becoming less and less now.
She is muzzle trained. She travels well in the car and will make someone a lovely companion around the house. She is great with humans and just wants a quiet home where she can have cuddles and some peace to relax in her older years.

Huey has been in foster for some time now. He’s not had a great life previously and can be nervous of new situations. He’s not too good on the lead at the moment but is slowly getting used to it. He will need ongoing training.
He’s about small cocker spaniel size. He’s very hand shy and will take a lot of time to bond with you he will take some time to get used to new people stroking him.
Huey needs an understanding home to allow him time to settle and trust and he will need a confident resident dog to help support him a female of similar size - he will make someone a great companion in time. He requires ongoing training and an experienced person who is not going to rush him.
Huey has come from a similar situation to Leo - please watch Leo's journey (link above) to gain an insight into the trauma these meat trade dogs have experienced. it is vital he has a friendly well rounded resident dogs to help him, a quiet and stable environment and to be given time to trust and an adult family who is not currently looking for a lap dog.
He’s not been around other animals apart from dogs so a home without other animals inc cats would be best for him.
The garden must be secure and you must be willing to not over face him with busy or crowded walks. Quiet rural walks are a must until he gains his confidence and trust in you.
He needs an Adult only home - NO CHILDREN or visiting children

Sadly Cookie & Waffle have been returned to us due to their owner being extremely ill. This decision hasn’t been made lightly but is in the best interest of Cookie & Waffle.
Cookie & Waffle are Mum & son and very much bonded. They previously came from a breeder.
They have lived with a cat. The are used to being the centre of attention. They absolutely love their person and are very affectionate. They would suit maybe a couple who are home all the time.
Both are house trained but Waffle does mark on occasion. They are chihuahuas and can be vocal. They walk well on lead.
Here is what their Fosterer has to say about them.
Waffle is more dominant than Cookie but they are very bonded. They snuggle up together to sleep at nighttime. They play fight occasionally but nothing aggressive.
They will bark at other dogs if they pass by too close on walks. They bark at noises outside like car doors shutting etc
Cookie seems to enjoy walking more than Waffle and she is always up front willing to go with Waffle trundling slowly behind! Once he loses some weight I’m sure he’ll be a bit more eager to go but they do seem to have been enjoying their short strolls and doing lots of sniffing.
They like cuddles and sitting next to /on you on the sofa!
Waffle has been marking in the house, less so now as he is going outside regularly but still does it a bit.
They do bark when left alone so have some separation anxiety.
Have been fine with my daughter.
Think they would suit an older person/couple who can give them lots of company in the day as they don’t like to be left. Very sweet natured though and always pleased to see you.

Yogi is a big, beautiful, fun-loving boy who first came into our care from the pound after completing his 7-day stray hold. He was only around 6 months old at the time and, after spending over six months in a home, he has sadly found himself back in rescue through no fault of his own.
Yogi’s previous adopters have described him as a loving, affectionate and energetic young dog who adores his people, enjoys a good cuddle and is always ready for fun. He has lots of enthusiasm for life and, like many young dogs, can sometimes get over-excited and forget his manners and boundaries.
Yogi is now back in foster with Julia and Meirion, where we can support him while we look for the right forever home.
What Yogi is like
Yogi is fully toilet trained and clean in the house. He isn't destructive and doesn't chew household items, although he is curious and will happily investigate anything left within reach on a work surface — so a little Yogi-proofing is definitely recommended!
He loves his Nylabones and enjoys having something appropriate to chew.
Yogi is a very affectionate boy who loves cuddles and attention. He can be vocal when he wants something or is trying to get your attention, so his new family should be prepared for a dog who isn't always shy about letting you know what he's thinking!
He's also a fantastic dog to have out in the field. He absolutely loves running around, playing and chasing a frisbee, and his energetic nature means he'll need a family who enjoys getting out and about with their dog.
Other dogs
Yogi is friendly with other dogs and really wants to play. His enthusiasm can sometimes be a little much, particularly for older or quieter dogs who don't share his desire to wrestle and run around!
For this reason, we feel Yogi would particularly thrive in a home with a younger dog of a similar size and energy level, where they could become best friends, play together and learn and grow alongside one another.
As always, introductions would need to be carefully managed to make sure the dogs are a good match.
Children & people
Yogi has been good with children and doesn't tend to jump up at them.
When meeting new people, Yogi is happiest when he is given the choice to approach them himself. If someone approaches him too quickly or directly, he can be unsure and will back away. He therefore needs people who will respect his space and allow him to say hello in his own time.
Once he is comfortable, Yogi is a very loving and affectionate boy.
At home
Yogi is comfortable spending a couple of hours in his crate during the day with the door closed. At night, however, he isn't keen on being shut in. He has been sleeping happily in his crate with the door open and a night light on.
His new family should therefore be prepared to continue helping him feel comfortable and secure at night rather than expecting him to immediately settle with the crate door closed.
Training & walks
Yogi has already learnt a fantastic list of commands, including:
Sit • Lie down • Stay • Come • Heel • Place/Bed • Leave it
He walks well on the lead for the most part, although he can pull very strongly when distracted, so his new family will need to continue working on his loose-lead walking and impulse control.
He's an intelligent young dog who clearly enjoys learning, and continuing his training will be an important part of helping him mature into the wonderful adult dog we know he can become.
Fun facts about Yogi
Yogi actually enjoys going for a bath — although he is not a fan of the hairdryer! Luckily, he has his very own soggy-dog robe to wear afterwards.
He currently has two meals a day and absolutely loves sweet potato treats. Apple, however, doesn't agree with his tummy and gives him sloppy poops, so that's one treat best avoided!
The home we're looking for
Yogi is a wonderful young dog with so much potential. He is affectionate, playful, clever and full of personality, but he is also a large, strong and energetic young dog who is still learning how to manage his excitement.
His ideal home will be with people who understand that young dogs don't come fully finished and who are willing to continue his training, provide plenty of exercise and give him clear, consistent boundaries.
We particularly feel Yogi would benefit from having a younger, playful dog of a similar size and energy level already in the home, as we believe he would love having a canine best friend to grow up alongside.
He will need a family who can appreciate his enthusiasm while helping him learn when it's time to settle, respect boundaries and keep those big feelings under control.
Yogi has already been through a lot for such a young dog, and we are determined to find him the right home this time — one where he can continue to grow, learn and be the happy, much-loved dog he deserves to be.

Meet Zoey, a gorgeous 4-year-old ex-racing Greyhound who is now looking for a loving forever home where she can enjoy life to the fullest.
Zoey is a very sweet, playful and affectionate girl, but she is also incredibly excitable! She has plenty of energy and would love an active home where she can enjoy regular walks, adventures and lots of fun.
Like many ex-racing Greyhounds, Zoey is still getting used to life outside of racing and we will continue to learn more about her personality as she settles into rescue.
Zoey is dog friendly and is comfortable walking alongside other dogs. She happily walks with canine companions without any issues.
We feel she may particularly enjoy having a male Greyhound companion in her forever home, although any resident dog would need to meet Zoey as part of the adoption process to make sure they are a good match.
Zoey is good on the lead and enjoys going for walks with other dogs.
She does have lots of energy and can be very excitable, so an active family who can give her plenty of appropriate exercise and enrichment would be ideal.
We are looking for a home with children aged 8+. Zoey's excitement and energy mean that she could potentially knock younger children over without meaning to, so older, dog-savvy children would be better suited to her.
Zoey is not cat friendly, so she cannot be rehomed with cats or other small furries.
Zoey absolutely loves her food and treats — and despite her excitement, she is wonderfully gentle when taking treats from your hand. A girl who knows the way to our hearts!
