No cats or small furries. Timid gentle boy. No children under 10. Paddy is in a foster home and loves his creature comforts. He needs people around most of the day and would love to have a friendly dog to share sofa cuddles with. Reggie

Age :  3 years

Breed: Rottie

Dog Friendly :  No

Cat Friendly: No

Kids : No

Neutered : Not Yet

Vaccinations: Yes

Info:

3 year old Reggie the Rottie. This boy has been with us for months being worked on for his fearfulness and distrust.

This is what our behaviourist has been helping us with and her write up of him.

Reggie is a very lovely lad bless him who needs an experienced home with time, patience, no expectations and just willing to go at his pace. His needs to start off with somewhere quiet, not lots of visitors or busy activities, no other dogs, no children. Only be handled with a slip lead initially due to fears of having a harness, although he is getting there with a lead onto his collar, everything to be done slowly and carefully, giving him time and space to adjust, realise he is safe. He needs a couple of options of dog beds in different places, not to have anything asked of him at all - VERY important, so he has choices to come to you if he wants to as an example, no walks for quite a few weeks, so sniffy things, some downtime etc. in the garden. He needs to know he can come to you when he is ready, be touched all over when he is able to cope, and then walks in very quiet areas, perhaps rent a field to start with because everything is going to feel overwhelming and panicking to start with. To feel safe, able to rest, eat 3 meals a day and have chews, bones etc. is all he needs and could cope with at the beginning.

It is important to remember that any behaviour is communication, so listening to him yawning, or lip licking etc. is important. If he ever grumbled then you change what you are doing in response and never tell him off because ultimately he is telling you he is scared and fear always needs to be understood and listened to. Once he has had time to settle, adjust and trust he really shows his lovely side. He may need to meet a few times to start with so that it's not all to sudden. He has been totally misunderstood and mishandled previously so needs calm, positive, kind interactions from now on. He can get stressed in or around the car so lots of patience and short spells of training with this. This is also another reason he must live somewhere quiet. If there was lots of traffic he would get very stressed.
We’ve been unable to get him to the vets so isn’t neutered yet (with advice from the behaviourist until he’s fully recovered), vaccinations need to be restarted. He’s flea and worm treated and microchipped. YOU MUST HAVE ROTTWEILER EXPERIENCE AND EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH ROTTWEILERS WITH ISSUES. WE'VE DONE AS MUCH AS WE CAN WITH HIM IN KENNELS AND FEEL NOW HE'S READY FOR A HOME TO CARRY ON PROGRESSING. EMAIL US FOR AN APPLICATION FORM.

HOME CHECK AND ADOPTION FEE APPLY AND SUPPORT FROM OUR BEHAVIOURIST IF NEEDED. ANYONE VERY INTERESTED WILL NEED TO VISIT SEVERAL TIMES WITH REGGIE SO MUST BE COMMITTED

Zeus

Sex:    Male

Age :  9 months

Breed: American Akita

Dog Friendly :  No

Cat Friendly: No

Kids : No

Neutered : Yes

Vaccinations: Yes

Info:

9 month old Zeus an American Akita is in need of a very experienced home who is willing to work with his fear aggression. He’s already had 3 homes and was due to be pts after biting someone over food. He’s not had the best start to life and is very workable with the right person. NO CHILDREN AND NO OTHER PETS. He’s not used to being on lead and is fearful of anyone touching him round the head and neck area. Our behaviourist has been and had a session with him which was very positive. He just needs a very knowledgeable new owner who can teach him life isn’t so scary. He’s neutered and had his puppy shots and is microchipped, flea and worm treated. NEW OWNERS MUST HAVE AKITA EXPERIENCE AND BE ABLE AND WILLING TO WORK WITH HIM. Once he gets to know you he does love giving kisses. Our behaviourist will come and advise new potential owners and show you how he needs handling. He is food aggressive so that also needs addressing. In a kennel environment there is limited things we can do with him but in a home he will progress.
