Info:

Sensitive sole Reggie is still looking for his forever home. He’s now been with us nearly a year without a sensible offer of a home. He hasn’t had the best start in life and is very distrusting of people. We’ve been working with him to help him trust more and with time he’s getting there. New owners must have large breed/Rottweiler experience and will have to be fully committed and willing to give him the time and patience for him to trust them. They must also be willing to meet him many times before adoption so Reggie gets to know you and start to build a bond.

He can only be handled with a slip lead initially due to fears of having a harness, although he is getting there with a lead onto his collar, everything to be done slowly and carefully, giving him time and space to adjust, realise he is safe. He needs a couple of options of dog beds in different places, not to have anything asked of him at all - VERY important, so he has choices to come to you if he wants to as an example, no walks for quite a few weeks, so sniffy things, some downtime etc. in the garden. He needs to know he can come to you when he is ready, be touched all over when he is able to cope, and then walks in very quiet areas, perhaps rent a field to start with because everything is going to feel overwhelming and panicking to start with. To feel safe, able to rest, eat 3 meals a day and have chews, bones etc. is all he needs and could cope with at the beginning.

It is important to remember that any behaviour is communication, so listening to him yawning, or lip licking etc. is important. If he ever grumbled then you change what you are doing in response and never tell him off because ultimately he is telling you he is scared and fear always needs to be understood and listened to. Once he has had time to settle, adjust and trust he really shows his lovely side.  He can get stressed in or around the car so lots of patience and short spells of training with this. This is also another reason he must live somewhere quiet. If there was lots of traffic he would get very stressed.

He loves toys and playing in the field and loves treats. He also loves rolling around in wet grass (his fave thing to do).

We’ve been unable to get him to the vets so isn’t neutered yet (with advice from the behaviourist until he’s fully recovered), vaccinations need to be restarted. He’s flea and worm treated and microchipped.

Blake

Sex:   Male

Age : 3 years

Breed:  Greyhound

Dog Friendly : Yes - larger

Cat Friendly: No

Kids :  No

Neutered :  Will be

Vaccinations:  Yes

Info: Meet new boy Blake. D.O.B. 8/10/18 so will be 3 in October. Blake retired from racing after breaking his wrist on his front leg. He’s had an op to put a plate on and it is healing fine. Doesn’t have any problems walking. He will need to go to a home where he will only have lead walks for the rest of his life. No off-lead running round sadly. He was in kennels with Chelsea but has just gone into a foster home with 3 other greyhounds.  He is clean in the house and very chilled and is taking to a home very well.  He is a little shy but loves a good fuss and cuddles. He loves his food too. Blake would suit a quiet home with another dog who can help his confidence. He is learning about the outside world and enjoying his walks and is learning to ignore small dogs.  Can’t live with cats, small dogs, small furries, poultry or livestock. With him being so shy a home without children would be better for him too.

Jessie

Sex:   Female

Age : 5 years

Breed:  Siberian Husky

Dog Friendly : Needs to be the only pet in the house

Cat Friendly: No

Kids :  Over 8

Neutered :  Will be

Vaccinations:  Yes

Info: Meet new girl Jessie. A nearly 5 year old Siberian Husky. Came in to our care due to change in family circumstances, work hours and spending too much time alone at home.

Jessie will be assessed in the coming days but what we’ve been told is she’s very energetic, typical of the breed, house trained, good with kids but would suit children 8 plus. Can be a little guarded when visitors come in the home and around human food, just barks. Very stubborn so will need an owner who can work with her.

Needs more socialisation with other dogs and can be vocal with them. Never lived with cats or other animals so a home with no other pets would suit. New owners must have husky experience. IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD HUSKY EXPERIENCE PLEASE DO NOT APPLY.  She will need a very active family who can give her the time and exercise she needs

Home check and adoption fee apply.
